Lignin is divided into two types: dealkali lignin and non-dealkali lignin. The main difference between them is whether they have been treated with dealkalization. Dealkali lignin is a lignin extracted from natural plants and treated by a special process, and its base has been removed, making the molecular structure more complex, which makes dealkali lignin more difficult to decompose than non-dealkali lignin in some applications. In contrast, unalkali lignin refers to the untreated lignin extracted directly from the original natural plant, which has a simpler molecular structure and is more easily biodegradable. The lignin after dealkalization is pure, light in color and soft in texture, while the lignin without dealkalization contains other impurities, dark in color and hard in texture.
