Experiments in animals indicated that Hexacosanol had a strong induction on neuronal maturation, showing an important neuroprotective effect. In contrast, Tetracosanols and Triacontanol show no such activity, while Octacosanol shows light activity. Hexacosanol can significantly slow down the degeneration of choline neurons.
